SUMMER in Alpbach

Pure nature

Fresh air, lush green fields and the breathtaking mountain scenery surrounding the Hotel Alphof invite you to go hiking, mountain biking, swimming, paragliding and much more.

Hiking

Our hiking trails between the Kitzbüheler Alps with gentle grassy mountains and the rugged Rofan Mountains, offer a distinctively impressive hiking backdrop.

Lake Zireiner is known as the 'blue eye of the Rofan' and is one of the most photographed lakes in Tyrol, boasting the incomparable fauna and flora of the Rofan Mountains.

And what is not to be missed on such hikes are the mountain huts, making your hiking experience also one for the palate.

From easy to challenging hikes, mountaineering and climbing tours, the Alpbachtal offers it all.

Huts

Both in summer and in winter, the Alpengasthof Roßmoos is a half an hour's walk. Probably Alpbach's most rustic hut, it's an insider tip for every epicure.

Located up on 2.000 m above sea level, the Zottahof is a must, you should definitely try Reinhilde's Kaiserschmarrn at least once in your life. Less than an hour's walk and accessible by car.

The Oberthaler Jausenstüberl up on 1.250 m above sea level is also an hour's walk. We at Alphof recommend our guests try the 'Speck' and cheese platters. Much of what is on the menu comes from our own produce.

A visit to the Moser Hanser hut at the Faulbaumgartenalm is a must for every Alpbach guest. The hut is located up at 2.000 m above sea level and is a 2-3 hour walk from the Alphof. Those less inclined to hike can start from Inneralpbach, cutting down walking time by half.

With a small animal zoo and childrens playground, located next to the mountain bike route, the Hornboden lies at 1.827 m above sea level. A bit further up is the Dauerstoa Alm at 1.900 m, offering visitors fantastic panoramic views from its wonderful sun terrace. Both can be reached in just 15 minutes by cable car in summer – impressive alpine enjoyment and relaxation.

Day trips

Rattenberg – the glass town with charm

Austria's smallest town, with an area of just 10 hectares and 400 inhabitants, has a medieval centre. There the town's glass works are clustered, making every stroll a glittery pleasure. The most famous glass manufacturer, Glas Kisslinger, ennobles the town. You can have outstanding glass gravings done by Glas Schwarz on request.

Nailsmith houses dating back to the 12th century and the St. Notburga fountain adorn the town. While enjoying your stroll, don't miss the beautiful glass pictures and paintings by Brigitte Kleyn-Altenburger or unique candles and wax figures at the Kerzenwelt.

Those with a sweet tooth shouldn't miss the Café Konditorei Hacker! Incomparably sweet delicacies of various kinds will delight all.

The Augustiner Monastry there is home to one of Tyrol's leading museums, with an observation tower and art treasures. The Rattenberg Brewery serves exquisite home-brewed beer – a cool refreshment on every outing. The parish church is also worth a visit and if you want to enjoy a beautiful view to finish off the day, the Schlossberg is the place to go. Sunsets against an alpine backdrop are breathtaking.
